Our Community is Essence International School, Kaduna, Nigeria. We will celebrate Juneteenth with Afro-American jazz music, popular music, and African drumming. The entertainment will include a mock wedding- jumping over the broomstick as in the olden days, poetry recitations and singing.
There will be a dinner in the secondary school Hall.

The first item on the program is intended to provide an explanation of the contemporary celebration of Juneteenth within the context of other celebrations such as Kwanzaa. Martin Luther King Day, though a federal holiday, will also be contextualized as an African-American initiated celebration, which inscribes African-American history on the national landscape.

JAPAN - OKINAWA JUNE 19, 2004 - KADENA AIR BASE

This is our Fifth Annual Juneteenth Celebration located here on the Island of Okinawa, Japan. This year promises to be a celebration we won’t soon forget. AACA takes pride in educating the local community about our American history. This year’s celebration will take place on Kadena Air Base at Kenney Park. There will be a host of activities for everyone to enjoy. Poetry reading ,Greek Step show, choirs, and a speaker are just a few things that you can expect to see and hear.

GUAM - JUNE, 2004 - ANDERSON AIR FORCE BASE

The Black Heritage Council will host the Annual Juneteenth Celebration this year at the Arc Light Park on Andersen Air Force Base. This event will be held from 12noon-5pm. We have a host of events to include spades/domino tournaments, Trivia Bowl, Coloring Contest, Bounce Castles, Live radio and television broadcasting, Art displays, Poetry reading from the well-known poet Rickey Charles, Praise Dance Team and Gospel Choir. Paris France

Here in Paris, lives an African-American community. My organization is called the Sisters. We have a Juneteenth celebration annually in a Paris garden. We hope to provide healing to all involved.

We’re having a party here in Jerusalem, in Abu Tor, which is the only mixed Jewish-Arab neigborhood in the city, celebrating the concept of freedom and what it means to us all.
