Birmingham Civil Rights Institute - celebrates Juneteenth, as the official ending
of slavery in the South. The Juneteenth celebration featuring singing, dancing and good
food is scheduled for: Saturday, June 7, 1997 10 AM - 4 PM
History
Explorers Summer Camp - a summer camp focusing on the history of the Civil Rights
Movement will be held: June 9 - 20th, 8AM - 12PM. An ideal program for
students in the sixth through eighth grades.
Living History - The Birmingham Civil Rights Institute
galleries will come to life as local actors reenact periods from the Civil Rights
Movement. They can be seen on the following Saturdays throughout the summer from: 11:00
AM until 1:00 PM,
