INDIANA

South Bend

The Black Student Union of Indiana University South Bend would like everyone to know that there are black people in Indiana. A lot of us. Enough of us to host an annual "Juneteenth" Celebration. We have big plans for next year, but this year, we're going to see how things go without funds. Just as our ancestors were late finding out their emancipation, we will be late in making our residents aware of our plans for the holiday. When the slaves were set free, many had no homes or money. Nor do we have any money for this event. However, we pray that this first annual Juneteenth Celebration will be and become, an unforgettable experience among our people. This event will be held on Saturday, June 19th at Potowattami Park, in South Bend Indiana, beginning at 12noon. Bring your own food. Socializing and games will start at 2pm.
