The Central Arkansas Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. will be hosting its Second Annual Juneteenth Celebration on June 18, 1999 in Little Rock, Arkansas. Activities will include a program, dinner, dance, silent auction and much more. All proceeds will benefit the chapter's Scholarship Fund. Little Rock Arkansas' Juneteenth Celebration June 23, 1999 RiverMarket Pavilion features concert performances by national recording artists Raven Simone, Tracey Spencer, Bootleg, Big Mike, Crooked Lettez, Section 8 Mob, Liberty City, Sankofa poets and arts and craft vendors.

The Black Community Developers, Power 92, and other sponsors will host the 3rd annual Juneteenth celebration at the Little Rock river market pavilion in Arkansas on June 23 from 4pm-9pm Weds. Featuring a host of headline entertainers like singer Tracey Spencer and local celebrities and groups to include the Sankofa Poets and friends. It's a family affair so be there.

Hello: My name is Toni A. Perry. I am a long-standing member of the Juneteenth Association in Wilmar, Arkansas. We are quite possibly the only town/city in Arkansas that has consistantly celebrated the "June Dinner". My research has taken on a trail which caused me to conclude that the celebration began as far back as the 1900 or beyond. We have attempted to have numerous free activities. With estimated crowds exceeding 5000, this can sometimes cause many problems. Yet, for the past four years, Mr. Terry Jones, Mr. Marvin Jackson, Mr.Kenneth Charles, Ms. Peggy Orr, and I have managed to provide some wonderful free and amusing entertainment for the mounting crowd. Annual Juneteenth Celebration slated at Wilmar this weekend. The annual Juneteenth celebration will be observed in Wilmar,Arkansas starting Thursday, June 17, with a kick-off bonfire on the old school campus on Seventh Street. Music for the event will be provided by Big House Production, owned by Rod Guy and opening prayer will be led by the Rev.Gwain Hammock. On Friday night, there will be a pegeant held in conjuction with the celebration at the Wilamr High School building just off Hwy 278. They will begin at 6p.m. At 8p.m, there will be a concert by the Pine Bluff Band" The untouchables" on the old school campus. Saturday's event will get underway with a parade down South Seventh Street at 1p.m. At 3p.m there would be a "burnout" contest featuring motorcycles on Hart Avence. It will be followed at 4p.m by a "Hoopfest" competition on the blocked-off area of South Avence Street. Members of the Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity will present a step show on the old school campus. It will be followed by a "Talent Expose" also on the school campus. At 9p.m, there will be a concert by Bernita Arterbury and the band Colorblind from Dallas,Texas. Another special guest band from Dallas will appear on the program. All events are free. Food and drinks will be available by from local vendors. RISON, ARKANSAS The Lanwood-Risonian Civic/Social Club presents its first Juneteenth Celebration, Friday, June 18, and Saturday, June 19, 1999, Pioneer Village, Rison, AR. Theme: "Knowledge is Power" We feel that an annual celebration will educate our youth and adults of their heritage, social issues and other important aspects to promote prosperity. Fayetteville

Northwest Arkansas Juneteenth Celebration June 19, 1999: The University of Arkansas Multicultural Center and the Black Students Association is sponsoring a celebration to commemorate “Juneteenth,” on Saturday, June 19, 1999 from 12:00-6:00 p.m. at Walker Park in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The northwest Arkansas celebration will include a community-wide picnic with choirs and other musicians, low level sports competitions (i.e., 3-legged race), carnival games for the children, and vendors. Everyone in the northwest Arkansas area is encouraged to become a part of the celebration. The entire event is free, and includes game booths, card and domino games, and free lunch. In addition, a few brave souls have volunteered to make a splash in the dunking tank! This is a community-wide celebration all are invited. MAGNOLIA, ARKANSAS. The United Community Organization will host the 9th Annual Juneteenth Festival at Southside Park in Magnolia, Arkansas on June 19, 1999. Fun Day kicks off at 10:00a.m. with a live D.J. and all day fun and activities. There will be Arts and Crafts, Food, and vendors booths. We will also have tournaments and a talent show.
