Casper

June 19, 1998, the local chapter of the NAACP is hosting a Juneteenth celebration. At the Park Plaza Hotel, the Black Image Awards will be given out to celebrate local African-Americans who have done some good for their community. On June 20, the celebration continues. The Juneteenth celebration will include a parade through downtown Casper to a local park. The City's Mayor Ed Opella, will offer some opening remarks to inaugurate the parade. The NAACP chapter president, Mrs. Lessie Pierce will also offer some remarks. The City is staffing some booths following the parade to try and bridge any gaps that there may be between the City of Casper and Casper's minorities.
