Farrell, PA will have their first Juneteenth Celebration on Saturday, June 20, 1998 from 12Noon - 9PM at Veteran's Square & Spearman Avenue, Farrell, PA 16121 The celebration will include local Gospel Choirs, Teenage Art Contest, Art and Food Vendors and lots of fun and community involvment. "Juneteenth Family Reunion" celebrating family histories and African-American traditions. The roles African-Americans have played in SW Pennsylvania, storytelling, Double-Dutch contest, family games, traditional W. African dance and drumming workshop and of course,food--bar-b-que. The "John & Sarah" Exhibit, tracing one man's family from Pittsburgh back to Vance County, North Carolina and slavery. The "Pittsburgh Rhythms" Exhibit features famous Black jazz musicians from Pittsburgh and SW Pennsylvania.
