18-19, 2005 - Local Chapters of the NAACP & AKA
- The Harrisonburg/Rockingham County chapter of
the National Association for the Advancement of Colored
People (NAACP) and the Sigma Gamma Omega chapter of
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. will co-host a
Juneteenth Celebration, on Saturday & Sunday, June
18-19, 2005. This “picnic-style” event takes place
over two days. Saturday, the 18th,
festivities take place from 11:00 AM-6:00 PM at
the Merck Shelter in Elkton, Va. Sunday’s events
will be held at the newly renovated Lucy F. Simms
Continuing Education Center in Harrisonburg from
4:00PM-5:30 PM. Cost: FREE! |
