WILMINGTON
June 19, 2010 -  Juneteenth Committee of Wilmington NC - The Juneteenth Festival will be held on June 19, 2010, starting at 12 noon at The Robert Strange Park next to the Martin Luther KIng Center, 401 S.8th St., Wilmington, N.C. 28401. The Festival will feature food vendors, health vendors, entertainment,face painting games and more. Leading up to the Festival, The Juneteenth Quiz Bowl was held at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington's Lumina theater. Three teams, Murray Middle School, New Hanover High School and Noble Middle School competed on African American History during Black History Month on February 28, 2010. Noble Middle School, New Hanover High School and Murray Middle School. Noble Middle School won 1st place. Also the First Miss Juneteenth/Young Miss Juneteenth Pageant was held on April 24, 2010 at the Martin Luther King Center. Seven young ladies competed for the titles. Juneteenth Queen 2009-2010, Miss Nhandi Kenion crowned Muss Saabirah Greene queen for 2010-2011. Miss Breasia Shaw won the tile of Young Miss Juneteenth. Miss Monee Boyd was selected as Miss Congeniality by her fellow contestants. The first Juneteenth Gospel Extravanga will be held in November, 2010. Rehearsals will start in June. Mr Barry Smith will be the Director.

The Calico Carolina Juneteenth Voter Registration Drive. on Saturday, June 19, 2010, Calico Promotions LLC. looks forward to the opportunity to provide individuals the opportunity to register to vote, update their current voter registration, gain information on absentee voting and everything else related to out rights to vote. June 18, 2010 - Juneteenth Kings and Queens - This a pageant. The King and Queen will be crowned at the Juneteenth of the Carolinas Celebration on Friday night 6/18/2010. The King and Queen will be given a royal thorn throughout the event along with cash and prizes. This pageant is a summer camp scholarship fund-raiser for area youth.

June 19, 2010 - Triad Cultural Arts, Inc. - Festival highlights include African drumming, Afro Salsa, Rhythm & Blues, spoken work, art, community displays, health screenings, youth activities, traditional food and merchandise vendors.  The Winston-Salem Transit Authority will provide rides around the park on the new “green” bus. The festival is free and open to the public.

Performers include local R&B bands, Phase Band and Envision, the Big Four Gospel Choir, and Otesha African Dance Ensemble.   Youth performers include the Essence Drummers and Dancers, The Winston HEAT Allstars Cheerleading Association, Union Baptist Step Team and the Friendship Baptist Church Children’s Choir.  There will be spoken word and Afro Salsa dance demonstrations.  Seniors In Motion will perform line dancing. 

In collaboration with Old Salem Museums & Gardens, the Juneteenth Celebration will include a week of educational group tours that will expose young people to the rich African American heritage in Old Salem.  Monday, June 14 – Friday 18, students will b able to tour the St. Philips African American Complex and interactive exhibits about early Africans and African Americans in Salem; observe archaeologists excavating at St. Philips; playing a game of carom, hold gourds or calabash, trying on a Ghanaian mask, handling a West African banjo, color African masks (Mon., Wed., Fri.); and see a Puppet Show (Tues. and Thurs.).   Sessions are Monday - Thursday 9:30 am-11:30 am; Monday - Thursday 1:30 pm -3:30 pm; Friday 9:30 am -11:30 am.  The cost is $6 per student.    Call 1-800-441-5305 to make reservations.

June 20, 2009 -  5th Annual Durham Juneteenth Celebration & Unity March- Saturday June 20, 2009 - Forest Hills Park - University Drive - Durham Festival: 12:00 pm - 6pm Unity March: 11:00 am. This fun filled, educational and uplifting day begins with an Opening Ceremony with songs, prayer, pouring of the libation and presentations on the origin and significance of Juneteenth takes place. Entertainment throughout the day features grass-root artists performing old fashion gospel, reggae, blues, positive hip-hop, spoken word, jazz and R&B. Between performances, community leaders provide informative, educational, and influential information to educate attendees about Juneteenth, its significance for all people and social/community services and activities available in the Durham community. Vendors from the area sell an array of African and African-American clothing, art and artifacts, specialty items, crafts and delicious foods. Experts in their respective fields provide information, activities, and demonstrations.

The Health Fair includes blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes, glaucoma and HIV screenings. Medical professionals from area health centers and hospitals are available for consultations. Health information is distributed including where services can be obtained in Durham – the City of Medicine.

The Children’s Village has games, face painting, crafts and other fun, educational activities and information for children of all ages.

June 20, 2009 - Triangle Cultural Awareness Foundation -Family-oriented, multi-cultural and uplifting event celebrating the ending of slavery in the U.S. begins with a Unity March at 11am for the eradication of modern-day forms of bondage (gangs, drugs, violence, abuse, poverty etc.) from Mt. Vernon Baptist Church (Durham) to Forest Hills Park, the site of the Celebration. From 12pm - 6pm, the Juneteenth Celebration will include food, vendors, kid's activities, health fair, art pavilion and entertainment throughout the day with featured guest, national recording artist, RAY, GOODMAN & BROWN. June 16-17,2007 - Southport Community Choir - On Saturday June 16,2007 we the Southport Community Choir  will celebrate our annual Juneteenth Festival, at the A.C.Caviness memorial Park located on Owens and Caswell Ave. Juneteenth is the oldest  known celebration to end African American Slavery since 1865. The festival will start at 11'0clock  a.m. with our motorcade leaving from the ILA Hall located on Lord St. and traveling down to West St. George, Clarendon Ave., and ending at the park. All churches are ask to participate in the motorcade as apart of community spirit.  Back by popular demand at this years festival will be Adult musical chairs, the electric slide, and water games for the entire family and other games .  Once again we will have Juneteenth Festival T-Shirts, all shirts need to be pre-ordered, see any choir member for more information regarding T-shirts. There will be information booths, activities, and demonstrations focused on history, health and fitness (health screenings, cooking demonstrations, etc.), and empowerment (education, business ownership, home ownership, etc.). The Children’s Village will have games, face painting, crafts and other fun, educational activities for children of all ages.  A major facet of the event will be the inclusion of other international cultures of African descendents that, like the African American, were affected by the slave trade. The Third Annual Durham Juneteenth Celebration will bring a multitude of organizations and citizens into the community in an effort to foster connections that will empower and uplift the community.

june 14 thru june 17/2007 - juneteenth festival of the carolinas - This year's Festival will be celebrated as the 10th Annual Festival of the Carolinas presented in collaboration with The House of Africa .The 4-day festival which will be held at the Indepence Park located in Charlotte , North Carolina begins Thursday June 14th through June 17th .During festival dates 20,000 attendees will enjoy "food" for the mind, body, and soul. Both printed and electronic media will be used with radio sound bites  from all the major radio stations. Public Service Announcements will be 10,000 flyers distributed with sponsorship logos in print. Finally , during the festival , there will be a live radio broadcast and the following highlights will be showcased:
-An Education Village is an integral part of the festival. Events in this village range from lectures by prominent educators and historians , book signings and discussions. African-American history is on display for those wishing to gather information.
-The Marilyn Griffith Turner Scholarship Fund which is named posthumously after our long standing Chairwoman. This full four year college scholarship is given to a deserving youth that is approved by our selection commitee in conjunction with the awarding college .The award is valued at $80,000 and is offered by St. Augustine College. Our first recipent was Marlin D.Felder who is currently majoring in History & Education.
-A Healthcare Village is astaffed with health care professionals from area hospitals and clinics who are on hand to generously educate and offer various FREE health screenings to all festival goers .
-The Main Stage spotlights all genres of entertainment to include fashion , dance singing, poetry, a gospel fest and much more .
-A Children's Village is a wonderful gathering place for kids 1-99 that is filled with a carnival of rides and games , arts and crafts and performance stage where the youth can experiment and showcase their talents .
-The ever popular  Drum Circle attracts music and dance enthusiasts of all ethnicities and from all over the US and World.
-The Multi-cultural vendors that travel from all the country and parts of Africa showcasing food , exquisite art, music and culturally relevant speciality items add even more "flavor" to this must event.
The Juneteenth Festival of the Carolinas is a non-profit organisation that depends ,  in part of sponsorship .Please join our efforts and lend your financial support to this great event.

Sisters On The Move, is hosting their 5th Annual Havelock Juneteenth Festival on June 18, 2004 at Havelock City Park from Noon to 6. Bring your family, friends, lawn chairs, grills, and picnic baskets. There will be an opening ceremony, guest speakers, african dancers, praise dancers, outdoor games, a variety of vendors, static displays, and face painting for the kids. Activities are geared toward family participation, community unification and will be an expression of celebration, brother and sisterhood, and good old fashioned FUN!!.  UMU,Inc. will host Greensboro, NC's 10th Annual Juneteenth Festival on Saturday June 25,2005 from 12 noon to 6pm. It will be held at Barber Park located at 1500 Dans Road(off East Florida Street). June 18, 2005 -TRIANGLE CULTURAL AWARENESS FOUNDATION - The First Annual Durham Juneteenth Celebration will be a fun filled, educational and uplifting day that features musical entertainment, food, vendors, exhibitors and presentations on the origin and significance of Juneteenth. Entertainment throughout the day will include old fashion gospel, reggae, blues, positive hip-hop, African drummers and dancers, praise dancers, spoken word, storytelling, jazz and R&B. Vendors will be selling an array of African and African-American clothing, art and artifacts, specialty items, crafts and delicious foods. There will be information booths, activities, and demonstrations focused on history, health and fitness, and empowerment (education, business ownership, home ownership, etc.). The Children’s Village will have health screenings, games, face painting, crafts and other fun, educational activities for children of all ages. A major facet of the event will be the inclusion of other international cultures of African descendents that, like the African American, were affected by the slave trade.
STATESVILLE
IMPACT, Inc. - Statesville has scheduled its seventh annual Juneteenth event for June 18th in "The Flat."  The Flat is the 500 block of South Center Street, which will be closed to traffic from Bell Street to Garfield Street from noon to 8:00 p.m. The local celebration will present a variety of entertainment and informative topics of interest to the Statesville community.  Local musicians and entertainers will be featured, and a guest disc jockey will provide music when live entertainers will highlight the day's activities.  There will be a 3-on-3 basketball tournament in three age categories.  Vendors will sell food and other items.
LAWNDALE

June 18, 2005 - Juneteenth Planning Committee and Tauheed Islamic Center - Friday,June 17th, 2005, at 6:00pm at: The Martin Luther king Center, 401 S. 8th St.  Wilmington, N.C.28401  There will be a Talent Show showcasing talents of all ages. First place prize will be $150.00. The fee for this event will be $7.50 for individual performances and $15.00 for a group of two or more.General Admission is $5.00.
