BATON
ROUGE |
June
17, 2007 - Baton Rouge Pan-Hellenic Council, Inc -
The Polaris Awards, is the signature event of the
Greater Baton Rouge Pan-Hellenic council, Inc. These
awards honor the unsung heroes in our community who have
made significant strides in promoting the growth and
development of a diverse and unified community. Why is
this award named Polaris? For millennia uncounted,
people have looked to the stars to guide their way.
Throughout those millennia, one star has held its
place steadfastly in our heavenly firmament and guided
travelers on their paths over land, sea and air.
That one constant star that guides, that North Star, is
named Polaris. In life, too, there are those who
guide us, not by the magnitude of their deeds, but by
the steadfastness of their character and their courage
in applying it to all things great and small. They lead
quietly, by example. If we look to them, they will show
us the way. Awards were given to five persons,
four adults and one youth, who had made significant
strides in promoting the development of a diverse and
unified community. The Polaris Award Banquet has
become the flagship project of the Baton Rouge
