will host its 24th annual Juneteenth celebration on June
19 at Bud Hughley Park here in Gadsden. On Friday, June
18, we will kick-off the event with the "Miss
Juneteenth" pageant to be held at Elliot Community
Center on West Meighan Boulevarde in Gadsden at 6PM. |

On
Saturday, June 19 from 8am to 5 pm the Town of
Gainesville will host it's first annual Juneteenth
Celebration. This years' theme is "A
Celebration of Freedom." Events planned
throughout the day include a "King of the Grill"
Barbeque Cook-Off, Poster Contest for 5th -8th grade
students, Period Dress (1865) Costume Contest, Art
Exhibits, Gospel/R&B singing featuring local artists and
an Award Cermony honoring local business owners and
schools for services rendered to aid the growth and
development of the Gainesville Community. Vendor
booths are available. Mayor Carrie F. Fulghum (The First
Black and the First Female Mayor in her third term of
office said it was just time for this type of
celebration.)

Alabama serves as the host city for the 2010 Juneteenth
experience. We welcome our brothers and sisters from
Mother Africa (Benin, Togo, Ghana, Nigeria and Cameroon)
as they journey across the waters to celebrate with us.
The Festival will be held at the Municipal Complex,
101 Fonville Street from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
Expect food, exhibits, vendors, music, drummers,speeches,
and fun. The week of activities will move to Montgomery,
Selma and end in Mobile and Africatown on June 23, 2010.

By proclamation of the Huntsville city mayor, Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated will host its 12th Annual Juneteenth Festival “A Celebration of Life, Truth and Freedom”
on Saturday, June 17th, 2006 on the Campus of Alabama A&M University. The event is free to the public and will take place between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. There will be a variety of activities and entertainment for children and adults. Some of the various activities include a talent show featuring local elementary and high school cheerleading squads, dance teams, dramatic multicultural presentations performed in song and dance, games for kids and performances by Burwell’s Taekwondo Academy and many others. Local vendors will provide food, drinks as well as a variety of other products and services. Other community service organizations will be in attendance to register voters, screen for Sickle Cell and check blood pressure.
Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, a certified 501C-3 non-profit organization, was founded at Howard University in Washington, D.C., January 9, 1914, by three young African-American male students. The founders of the organization wanted to organize a Greek letter fraternity that would truly exemplify the ideals of brotherhood, scholarship, and service. Today, ninety years later, Phi Beta Sigma has blossomed into an international organization of leaders striving to uphold our Fraternity Motto "Culture for Service and Service for Humanity". It is in keeping with the spirit of the Fraternity Motto that Phi Beta Sigma organizes and supports numerous activities and projects in the Huntsville community.

It’s that
time again! BCRI’s Tenth Annual Juneteenth Festival will
take place June 3-5. The event will kick off with a
spectacular concert Friday night featuring the “Angel of
the Night” Angela Bofill at UAB's Alys Stephens Center.
Tickets are available at BCRI and/or by calling
205-975-ARTS. On Saturday we’ll have our FREE, day-long
street festival with lots of music, fun for kids, food
and free admission to the Institute. Then on Sunday the
city will gather for a special worship service at the
historic Sixteenth Street Baptist Church. For more
