The Third Annual Juneteenth
Celebration at the Academic Center for Excellence, Inc. (ACE),
Dunn, N.C. and will be held June 18,19 and 20, 2004. This year's
theme is "The End of Aparthied". The schedule includes: 7
p.m. Friday Worship Service Saturday 9:00 a.m. - 5:30 Family Day
activities are at the Academic Center for Excellence campus,
featuring workshops on the National Black Empowerment Agenda,
education, voter registration, politics, home ownership,
economic development, liberation theology. There will be day
long children's activities, films, vendors and a family style
barbeque. At 4:00 p.m. Joyce Grear returns this year to perform
"Harriet Tubman". There will be presentation of the Annual ACE
Awards. ACE Awards are given in the areas of Heritage,
Freedom, Inspiration, Empowerment & Community Outreach
Ministries/Services. On Sunday June 20th, there will be a
Father's Day tribute to the Negro Baseball League featuring
Clifford Layton a former league member, memorabilia and films on
the league from 3:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.
The registration fee of $10.00 and $5.00 for students, includes

Sisters On The Move, is hosting
their 4th Annual Havelock Juneteenth Festival on June 19, 2004
at Havelock City Park from Noon to 6. Bring your family,
friends, lawn chairs, grills, and picnic baskets. There will be
an opening ceremony, guest speaker, entertainment, games,
vendors, a dunk tank, and face painting. Activities are geared
toward family participation, community unification and will be
an expression of celebration, brother and sisterhood, and good
old fashioned FUN!!. Come out and have an old fashioned cookout

9th Annual Juneteenth Festival on Saturday June 26, 2004 from 12
noon to 6 pm at Barber Park located at 1500 Dans Road (off East
Florida Street) with admission and parking. Come join us
for a fun filled day for all with special emphasis on fathers,
family and positive role models from within the community for
our African-American Youth. There will be a variety of
family oriented entertainment for all ages, Kiddie Korner,
Health Fair, Mentoring Groups, Public Servants Awareness and
Voter Registration. Vendors will be selling and array of
African and African-American clothing, art and artifacts,
specialty items, crafts and delicious foods. Persons

Juneteenth Celebration and No Excuses Voter Registration Drive.

the community's Fourth Annual Juneteenth Celebration. On
June 19th, from 11:30 AM until 6:00 PM, during Father's Day
Weekend, the Hoke County Library Stage will come alive with
Caribbean sounds of Wilson Dubois and "Resounding Steel";
stories by MamaIlu; and wonderful presentations by local
community artists and craftspeople. There will be
something for all members of the family, including kidspace, a
petting zoo, and more. Don't miss the opportunity to share,
