- Utah State JUneteenth Festival Committee, 11th Annual Juneteenth Heritage
Festival, June 16 & 17; Being held at the historic, Marshall White Community Center,
222 - 28th Street, Ogden, UT. Theme: "Be Prepared...Preparing An Education,
Technology and Business Foundation for the New Millennium". Activities include a
parade in downtown Ogden, African American Roundtable, Panel Discussion made possible in
part from funding from the Utah Humanities Council, "Are We Leaving A Cultural Legacy
in Utah?" Speakers include, Baba David Coleman, Master Drummer and Instructor,
Hartford, Conn; Dr. Wilfred Samuels, Univ. of Utah, Dr. Wangari, Weber STate University
and performances by Legacy, Musical Ensemble, True Vine Baptist Church Dancers and Griffin
Memorial Church of God In Christ, Youth Choir. All Day Saturday, beginning at 12:00 p.m.,
LIve Entertainment, Including, rap, hip-hop, jazz, r&b and Gospel; featuring world
renowned gospel diva, Tramaine Hawkins, Metropolitan Praise Team and Step Team, Las Vegas,
Nevada and the Intermountain General Baptist Convention State Choir. Vending and craft
booths, food galore and games for children. All events are free and open to the public.

NAACP Salt Lake Branch Juneteenth- Live Remote from KRCL Radio Station will kick
off this years Juneteenth, Friday June 9, 2000. The evening will begin with the sounds of
George Brown Quintet Jazz Band at 6:00 p.m. and Saturday the crowd will hear live bands
sponsored by Solo Entertainment. The soulful bands will bring the crowds to their feet
will be, Entertain with Dwane, Jay Black, Joe Baca, Voklrayn and Big Rock. Students from
across Salt Lake City will participate Friday, June 9 with the NAACP Stop the
Violence/Start the Love Rally. These events will be held Friday and Saturday, June 9 and
10th at Jordan Park (International Peace Garden). 1061 South 900 West, Salt Lake
City, Utah. The theme is "Unity in the Community." There will be booths set-up
where food, clothes and other items will be sold. There will be a Job Fair where
businesses will be accepting resumes for employment. The Branch has celebrated Juneteenth
for approximately 20 years. Saturday, June 17, 9:00 p.m., Juneteenth celebrations
will continue at Da Phat Squirrel, 241 South 500 East, Salt Lake City, Utah featuring DJ
Stevie from NYC. NAACP Members with proof of membership cost is $3.00 and non-members will
pay $5.00 at the door. Continuation of Juneteenth will be Monday, June 19th at the
Central City Community Center, 615 South 300 East, Salt Lake City, Utah. Join the Salt
