  • The Emancipation Proclamation Celebration: JUNETEENTH AT HOLY CROSS. Celebrate when slavery was ended for all African American within the United States. Our Prayful celebration starts after the 10:00 Mass in the Parish Hall. Food, and a special prayer service. Come enjoy, remember and give thanks!   • PHILADELPHIA JUNETEENTH FREEDOM FESTIVAL AND PARADE! SATURDAY, JUNE 17, 2000 FROM 12:00 TO 6:00 P.M. On Saturday, June 17, 2000 the Philadelphia Juneteenth Coalition will celebrate freedom with an African American Freedom Festival and Parade. The Parade will start in downtown Philadelphia at 16th and John F. Kennedy Blvd. Marching up the Benjamin Franklin Parkway to the Art Museum. This years celebration will have some of the nations's most champion drill teams coming in to represent Pennsylvania from Philadelphia, Darby, Darby Twp,Chester PA and surrounding counties. Also we will be hosting groups from Delaware, Baltimore, MD., New Jersey, Conneticut, Ohio,and more. Each group will add an Afro-centric addition to their uniform in honor of Juneteenth. The rhythms of the drill teams will be bolstered by bands, performers and floats. At the end of the parade on the parkway there will be entertainment by the Voices of Africa, Images of the Motherland, Freedom Choir and more. Along with the entertainment on the Parkway, the Woman's Christian Alliance will host their 5th Annua! Community Health Fair offering Free Blood Pressure Checks, Blood Sugar Checks and CONFIDENTIAL HIV Testing. We expect an Explosive Celebration in commemoration of Juneteenth. Pittsburgh
  •  June 17th and 18th. Amusement park rides, food, vendors, national recording artists: Avant, Ideal, Vega, Dwayne Wiggins formerly of Toni, Tony, Tone, Carl Thomas, Rah Digga, Slave, Heatwave and more. Pittsburgh has been celebrating Juneteenth for several years. It is sponsored by a local Urban Radio Station, WAMO 412-333-2181.
  • WAMO 106.7 Will have there anual Junetenth Celenbration in Pittsburgh, PA. with various artist ariving. Last year was off the hook.
Chester Grace-Community UMC, 1213 Central Ave., Chester, PA--Rev. Walton R. Burke, Pastor. This is our second Juneteenth celebration. Our celebration will begin June 14, 2000 through June 19, 2000. We will be having revival services. On 6/14/00 Rev. Noah Reid, Janes UMC, 6/15/00 Rev. Allen Waller, Enon Tabernacle, 6/16/00 Rev. Jeremiah Witherspoon, Temple Baptist, 6/17/00 Rev. Sligh, Deveraux UMC, 6/19/00 Rev. Alfreda Wiggins, John Wesley UMC. On 6/17/00 after the morning service, we will have a community and church picnic.
