Tulsa Tulsa, Oklahoma's Juneteenth Heritage Festival held annually on Greenwood. Clearview The town of Clearview in Oklahoma will be celebrating Juneteenth on June 17, 2000 at the Clearview Community Center. Clearview is one of the remaining all black towns still in existence in the state. Oklahoma boast the fact that there were more all black towns established here than any other state. Clearview is second to Boley in size. The town in incorporated with a mayor and city council. There is also an annual all black rodeo held the first weekend in August. Our guest speaker this year will be Shirley Nero, a junior high history teacher, who specilizes in black history of the state. She will speak on Juneteenth. There are expected to be about 200 in attendence, most coming on tour busses set up by black tour guides out of Texas, Muskogee, and Tulsa. There will be a dinner, entertainment, and souveniers.
Ponca City Ponca City Juneteenth Celebration Committee is planning a day of family fun. The celebration is scheduled for June 17, 2000 at Attucks Park, South 12th Street in Ponca City. We will have many activities for children include obstacle courses, sand castles, water balloon races and much more. Slated is a 3-on-3 basketball tournament with the winner take all. Additionally there will be horseshoes, volleyball, softball, dominoes, and card games. The food committee is working on a mouth watering menu of picnic eats and yes, we will have 'red soda.' Shawnee Theme: Unity In The Community Number of yeas: 5 years This years celebration will feature youth groups from various churches in the community. It will also feature visoins Jazz band from Oklahoma city Parade, games, Food booths and more.
Altus 2nd Annual Juneteenth Celebration. Activities primarily for children include moon walk, dunking booth, cake walk, volleyball, track meet (trophies awarded), basketball tournament, prizes, free food. Sponsored by African American Greek Coalition.
