Mali Yetu, An Alternative Education Program for African American Youth in the
Greater Cleveland Area. 4th Juneteenth Celebration. Saturday, June 17, 2000 at Luke Easter
Park, Kinsman Avenue and MLK Drive. Free and open to the public. Activities will include a
"Health & Wellness Station" sponsored by Merida Huron Hospital. They will
offer Blood Pressure, Diabeties Testing and Cholesrerol Screenings. The No Limit Soldiers
Drill Team from UMADAOP will perform as well as Master Storyteller Maurice Hockett and
Belinda Haywood & WMIB Line Dancers. Children's activities will include sack racing,
face painting and arts & crafts. Area vendors will he on hand with items for every
member of the family. The Mali Yetu Moms will be selling refreshments. A raffle will be
held (proceeds will help defray the cost of the trip the children attending the program
this summer on their trip to Tanzania.) For further information contact: Ms. Michelle

The Toledo Association of Black Social Workers is proud to announce our inaugural
Juneteenth Celebration. Held June 19,00 at the Mott Branch Library, 1085 Dorr, Toledo,
Ohio 43607. We will have a guest speaker Dr. Rubin Patterson, Prof. of African Studies and
Sociology. Also we will be having various activities for the children,and summer
refreshments. If you could email me some information about specific children activities I
would appreciate it. We look forward to expanding our celebration each year, and
definitely welcome suggestions. |
