We the St. John Baptist Church, 30th and Mitchell Streets, Camden, New Jersey will be having our first ever Juneteenth celebration on June 17, 2000, ALL are invited to come and join us for a spiritual,fun filled and educational day. Juneteenth 2000, "And Ye Shall Know The Truth..."John 32:8 is our theme and we hope to bring enlightenment to the community of our freedom in Christ and in our political lives as well. We will be having the Juneteenth Player doing street drama, gospel choirs singing, marching bands playing, drummers drumming, and praise dancers dancing throughout the day. We invite everyone to come in period clothing or african attire if they choose, but casual clothes are just fine. We will have 3-man basketball, horse shoe pitching , checker’s, foul-line basket ball, and toddler’s basketball tournaments; jax’s, double dutch, marbles and poster contests. There will be potato sack races, egg and spoon races, face painting, pony rides and possibly a cowboy show. All types of cultural foods, caps, t-shirt and buttons available. Langston Hughes School students and staff will be together Monday for a Field day of fun and food.Students will be asked to recycle their knowledge by donating a new or used book to the school library during the week June 19-23.On Wednesday students and staff will be wearing Afro Centric attire to celebrate their support of unity in our school village community. Thursday is a celebration of Publishing and Fine Arts Projects developed by our students during the school year.
